Safety-critical marshalling yard lighting – developed for maximum reliability.
For a national rail operator, we developed a three-channel driver that meets the highest requirements for safety and redundancy.
A solution that continues to function reliably even when individual components fail.
Challenge
Marshalling yard lighting is safety-critical and subject to the highest requirements for reliability and fault tolerance.
A failure of individual components must not result in areas remaining unlit.
For this specific application, there was no suitable solution on the market that could meet the technical and regulatory requirements.
Additionally, all specifications and standards of the operator had to be fully complied with.
Solution
We designed and implemented a specially developed driver with three independent channels.
The three-channel structure ensures that lighting continues to function even if individual components fail.
The solution was precisely tailored to the infrastructure requirements and meets all relevant operator specifications.
What was developed was not just a technical solution, but a system designed for maximum operational safety.
Technical Concept
The developed system is based on a three-channel architecture.
Each channel operates independently and automatically takes over the function of the others in the event of a fault.
This ensures that lighting can continue to operate reliably even in the event of partial failures.
The result is a robust and fault-tolerant solution for safety-critical applications.
Result
A solution was realized that ensures safe operation of the lighting even under demanding conditions.
The requirements for redundancy and operational safety were fully met.
The system is in operation today and provides reliable lighting in a safety-critical environment.
